Dear Menifee District 2 voters,
I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Ben Diederich, and I’m a proud husband, father, and Menifee business owner. My family moved out here over 30 years ago and I attended MSJC, obtaining my A.S. in Math before moving on with my education. I transferred to UCSD, where I studied Molecular Biology. I moved back to the area and worked at a biotech firm in Temecula. During that time, I married my lovely wife, Jennifer, and we’ve been married for 21 years now.
I then decided to become a Patent Attorney and enrolled at USC Law School, commuting from out here, while my wife worked at a law firm in Temecula. When our daughter was starting school (she’s 12 now), we knew we wanted to come back to raise her here and bought our house in Audie Murphy Ranch seven years ago.
I moved my law practice out here and opened my own firm over six years ago. Ever since moving back, I jumped into community service. I’ve served on the Chamber of Commerce board, working my way up to Vice Chair during my term, I’ve served on the board of the Temecula Valley Symphony, and on the Santa Rosa Academy school board. I currently serve on the City’s Planning Commission, having been appointed by Matt Liesemeyer nearly four years ago, and served as the Chair last year.
I regularly volunteer my own time and sponsor various community events, including the first ever All-Star Field Day with the school district this year, hosting a back to school supply drive, and sponsoring the Southwest Riverside County Pitch Contest for local innovators, among others.
I love Menifee, and I love to serve our community. That is what is driving me to run for City Council. It’s not about me, it’s about all of us. It may be my name on the ballot and on signs around town, but I’m running for all of my neighbors. I own a home here, our daughter goes to school here, and I own a business here, employing and assisting other Menifee residents.
Just like you, I want the best for Menifee going forward. I look forward to ensuring the safety and happiness of Menifee residents and hope to help smartly grow the city with additional amenities, entertainment options, and high-quality jobs that will allow residents to live, work, and play right here in Menifee. I want to continue expanding our infrastructure to make life easier for all of us, while also preserving the rural feel and open spaces that make Menifee unique.
I hope to earn your vote, and I believe I have the experience, integrity, and servant’s heart to serve you well. And having earned the endorsements of the current City Council, the Planning Commission, the Menifee Police Officer’s Association, the Riverside Sheriffs’ Association, the Mayors of Canyon Lake and Lake Elsinore, I’d like to think they agree, and I hope you will too on Nov. 8.
