The California Highway Patrol is seeking information about a hit-and-run collision that resulted in the fatality of a pedestrian on Highway 74 on Wednesday.
About 5:50 p.m., a 34-year-old female was walking from the north edge of the highway at the intersection of Ethanac Road in a southerly direction, crossing the highway, according to a CHP news release. An unidentified male was driving a silver Honda Accord westbound on Highway 74 at an undetermined speed and failed to stop for the pedestrian.
The vehicle’s front end struck the pedestrian while she was walking in the No. 2 lane. She was thrown onto the vehicle’s windshield. The male continued to drive westbound and the pedestrian wound up in the No. 1 lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Honda Accord should have major damage to the front end and is missing the front bumper. It should also have significant windshield damage. According to witnesses, the driver appeared to be a male.
