PUHSD candidate Randall Freeman: Platform statement

Editor’s note: Incumbent Dr. Randall Freeman is a candidate for re-election to the Perris Union School Board. He is a retired teacher and former member of the Menifee Union School Board. The following is his campaign platform statement in advance of the November election.

Our community has successfully managed our way through a great deal these past few years. National leaders who spend far too much time lambasting each rather than effectively governing our nation through tough times. School boards across this country have entered into divisive political arenas, diminishing their ability to safely and effectively educate our children. Our Perris Union High School District has continued to successfully steer our course through this tough time, to maintain and improve the focus where it needs to be -- on our children, our families, and our wonderful growing community.

As an active member of the PUHSD Governing Board, I am immensely proud of the work that this District has provided for all of our stakeholders. We followed state mandates during the COVID-19 crisis. We administered according to mandates, adding nothing that wasn't required of us. We enjoy a positive collaborative relationship with our certificate and classified staff. We efficiently and effectively provide alternative services for our students, including our Scholarplus Hybrid Program, our charter school, California Military Institute, our PALS Program for special needs young adults, and much more.

We opened a much-needed new high school, Liberty High School. We have renovated and modernized Paloma Valley High School and Perris High School. We have kept a longtime promise to build state-of-the-art aquatic facilities at each of our four high schools. We have agricultural and culinary programs. There is much more.

I am immensely proud of the work that the PUHSD team has done. From the campus supervisors, custodial staff, maintenance, clerical, certificated, and administrative personnel, Perris Union High School District has created a district and community system that is highly admired and respected in the educational community.
