Menifee resident Dennis Regus is running for election to the Area 3 trustee seat on the Menifee Union School District board.
Regus is running for the only MUSD board position that has an opponent on the ballot. He is being opposed by incumbent Kyle Root. Board members Jackie Johansen and Morgan Singleton are running unopposed for re-election to their positions.
The following is Regus' campaign statement going into the Nov. 8 election:
"I believe in a world that values curiosity and discussion. As a board member, I will continually work towards instilling these ideas in our classrooms. We learn best when we are curiousm and curiosity can infuse our students' learning every day.
"My family and I have lived in Menifee for 15 years and I grew up in the valley as well. As a school board member, I will represent the needs of students, parents, and the community in an honest, compassionate, and ethical way.
"I was a classroom teacher for 12 years, a district level administrator for six years, and for the past thre years I have worked for the Riverside County Office of Education as a mathematics teaching and learning specialist. I believe my experience at all levels of education, TK-12, make me uniquely qualified for the school board. All of our children deserve the best, most engaging, and relevant education possible so that they are prepared for the future they choose. I will diligently represent my constituents and help guide the decision making of the Menifee USD leadership team."
