The Menifee City Council last week approved the next step in preparations for the Holland Road Overpass.
Council members approved the relocation and construction of water pipelines west of the 215 Freeway. The water source will serve what will become a cul-de-sac over which the freeway bridge will be built. The bridge will connect with Haun Road west of the freeway and Hanover Lane east of the freeway.
Cost of the project is built into the budget for the overpass, which will provide a much-needed route over the freeway between Newport Road and Scott Road. There will be no on- or off-ramps with this bridge, which has been in the planning stages for more than a decade.
“This work will be done at the same time as the construction of the bridge,” said public works director Nick Fidler. “We anticipate it taking the duration of the project.”
Fidler also gave council members an update on the timeline for the project.
“We hope to be out to bid on the project next week,” he said. “All the documents have been sent to Caltrans. We’re right there at the final step. We hope to have approval for the final award [of the construction bid] in October.”
The bridge, with an estimated cost of $25 million, will have two lanes in each direction.
I was wondering if there will be access from Antelope to the overpass ? I hope so. It will help a lot not to have to go over the freeway bridge.
