Fourth in a series of candidate statements for the District 2 Menifee City Council seat:

By Angel Nevin

As a resident of Menifee since 2004, I am seeking to serve the people of District 2 on the City Council. I believe a good council member is a leader who listens, and I want to be the voice for the people in my district.

I am not a career politician. I am a mom, small business owner, and proud community member. I have 20 years of construction and construction accounting background in residential, commercial and public works, with an eye for the details. I want to help Menifee continue improving public safety, quality of life, community and economic development and community engagement, while embracing our rural roots!

-- Continuing infrastructure improvements
-- Create a welcoming environment for small business
-- Keep our beautiful rural areas and crack down on illegal dumping
-- Maintenance of community parks
-- Minimize industrial parks and warehouses

In my 18 years as a resident of Menifee, I have seen the quick growth of our city! From the vote to incorporate in 2008, and officially becoming the City of Menifee, to establishing our own municipal police department in 2020, I have been here through it all. I want to keep the charm and rural areas that Menifee is known for, while also growing as “family friendly”.

We have to focus on keeping the infrastructure plan that has been set in place on track. We need to focus our attention, keep to the budget and timeline. I am in strong opposition to the proposed building of the industrial warehouse project north of the Sun City area. While it is not in my district, it could lead to additional industrial warehouses in our now dwindling rural areas.

My husband and I have raised our family in Menifee. My daughter is currently attending Paloma Valley High School, and my son graduated from Paloma. I have participated as a parent volunteer with their sports teams and was a Girl Scouts co-leader, meeting so many amazing people along the way. My husband and I are small business owners in Menifee. We are a family that lives, works and plays in Menifee.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve the residents of Menifee and be a voice for the people.
