Press release from the Menifee Police Department:
MENIFEE – The Menifee Police Department recently conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint. The checkpoint yielded the following arrests: (4) drivers were arrested for DUI, (2) were arrested for DUI while under the influence of narcotics, and (1) felony DUI for having three prior arrests for DUI within 10 years.
In addition to the DUI arrests, one driver was arrested for outstanding warrants. The checkpoint was held at Highway 74 near McKinley Rd between the hours of 8 p.m. and 3 a.m.
In addition to the arrests, the following citations were issued to drivers during this checkpoint: (25) drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed, (7) for driving with a suspended/revoked driver’s license, and (1) driver was cited for having three children in the same vehicle not properly restrained in a child seat.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired. As Menifee’s population and businesses continue to grow here in Menifee, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern.
Menifee Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint Aug. 27. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
