Man dies in two-vehicle collision on 215 freeway

A Riverside man died in a two-vehicle collision this morning in the southbound lanes of the 215 freeway near McCall Boulevard.

The 22-year-old, whose name was not released, was a passenger in a 2002 Toyota pickup truck traveling approximately 70 mph about 5:54 a.m., according to a CHP news release. A big rig with trailer was traveling about 55 mph in an adjacent lane when it suffered a left front tire blowout.

Taking evasive action, the Toyota pickup entered the center median and rolled over. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was transported with minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating the accident.
