A Riverside man is in custody after being transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries suffered when he crashed a stolen vehicle on a Menifee street on Monday, authorities said.
Zelia Murphy, 52, was located by officers about 8 p.m. near the intersection of Newport Road and Calle Tomas, according to a Menifee Police Department news release. The suspect failed to yield and a pursuit began, The suspect collided with a curb near Bradley Road and Desert Hills, lost control of the vehicle, and flipped onto the vehicle roof.
Officers removed the suspect from the vehicle and took him into custody. A records check revealed he has a felony warrant for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. Murphy also faces charges of vehicle theft and felony eluding.
The road was closed for a short period of time. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
