Preliminary work is underway at the intersection of Menifee Road and Garbani Road.

Problems acquiring materials on time has resulted in delays on two traffic signal projects on Menifee Road.
Widening of the intersection and installation of new curbs is taking place at the intersection of Menifee Road and Garbani Road. Flagmen are present to assist with traffic flow as shoulder and drainage improvements are made. It will be some time before the traffic signals are installed, however.
According to an amendment to the construction project approved by the City Council this week, the term of the agreement has been extended to February 2023. The project is now scheduled to be completed by September, but the extension to February is considered necessary “to see the project through the construction and close-out phases.”
Meanwhile, delays in acquiring materials was also cited as the reason work has not yet begun in the installation of traffic signals at Menifee Road and La Piedra Road. That intersection is the subject of concern from many residents because of the steady traffic of students from nearby Bell Mountain Middle School.
Menifee resident John Faulk appeared before the council Wednesday night to inquire about the revised project timeline and to ask why a paid crossing guard has not been returned to that intersection. He has been volunteering his time – at his own risk – to serve as a crossing guard there.
Menifee Union School District is responsible for crossing guards. So far, no decision has been made to place one at that intersection. As far as the traffic signal is concerned? According to Nick Fidler, public works director, he hopes work can begin “shortly”. Faulk said he was told that could mean late summer, perhaps not before the start of the next school year.
