City of Menifee officials on Wednesday announced plans to construct raised medians on Newport Road from Bradley Road west to Murrieta Road.
The agreement approved by the City Council is for the design services only, not to exceed $110,753. The project is designated as priority 1 in the City’s Capital Improvement program.
Design services will be provided by CivilPros, the lowest of four bidders for the project. Terms of the design agreement run from June 1 until December 31. According to Nick Fidler, public works director, construction cost of the project will be shared by the builder of an upcoming development on the south side of Newport Road.
The median will prevent left turns in and out of shopping centers at Newport Road and Bradley Road, at Newport Road and Murrieta Road, and from streets not controlled by signals. The westbound left-turn lane into McDonald’s will be eliminated.
Putting in medians made driving in Hemet ridiculous and infuriating. This is a stupid idea-- they should have looked at the mess Hemet's medians created. Dumb.
