Veterans, students to join in 'Paint Your Heart Out' event

VFW Post 1956 is participating in the inaugural VFW Day of Service by partnering with veteran-students from Mt. San Jacinto College and the JROTC Unit at Paloma Valley High School to host a VFW Day of Service "Paint Your Heart Out" event.

Participants will paint the home of a Marine Corps veteran Saturday at 31935 Ariel Court in Menifee. The public is encouraged to drop off donations of small green shrub plants at that address.

The Post chose this project for their first VFW Day of Service event because it benefits all three groups involved. Post members get a sense of purpose from helping fellow veterans, the veteran-students feel good knowing they can still serve and go to college at the same time, and the JROTC students benefit by being surrounded by veterans who share past military stories and help prepare them for the journey they are about to embark on after graduating from high school.
