Liana Velasco of Santa Rosa Academy received the Inspiring Academic award.
Three high school students from Menifee were recognized by the Menifee City Council Wednesday for their honors as Spring Teen Award winners.
Three times a year, the City’s Community Services Department honors three students nominated by their teachers, peers or others for their service in the community. Nine award winners will compete for the Teen of the Year award, to be announced at an event on June 2.
Liana Velasco, a junior at Santa Rosa Academy, received the Inspiring Academic award. In addition to her excellent academic performance, she has been instrumental in the success of the school’s new unit of the California Cadet Corps – a school-based leadership program with a military framework, according to the CACC website.
Charly Valencia, a junior at Paloma Valley High School, was named the All-Star Athlete for the spring session. She has participated in the competitive cheer program for the entire year, is a leader in her AVID class, and has a 4.0 GPA.
Louis Rodriguez, a junior at Paloma Valley High School, received the Outstanding Citizen award. He volunteers at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, is active in Boy Scouts, and volunteers for Menifee Valley Little League as an umpire and snack bar worker.
