One of the original teachers at Heritage High School and an accomplished administrator has been approved by the Perris Union High School District Governing Board as the new principal at the school.
Lindsay Chavez began at Heritage when the school opened in 2006, teaching English and Yearbook and being named Teacher of the Year in 2012. In 2015, she joined the Riverside Union School District, serving as AVID coordinator for Poly High School. Since 2018, she has been assistant principal at Ramona High School.
Chavez has supervised the development of the Local Control Accountability Plan, Title I, and Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for her school site, led equity and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams, implemented a Student Wellness center, developed social-emotional learning programs and implemented a system for responding to student behavior using restorative practices. She has also served as a summer school principal and district Title IX investigator.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from California State University Long Beach, a Master’s in Teaching with an English Credential from Chapman University, and a Master’s in Applied School Leadership from National University.
“Ms. Chavez is an excellent communicator and consensus builder,” said PUHSD Superintendent Grant Bennett. “We are looking forward to her returning to Heritage High School, where she will continue the tradition of excellence in the classrooms, athletic fields, and in all extracurricular activities.”
