Marian Luevano shops regularly at the Burlington store in Hemet, but she couldn’t resist the chance to be the first one to check out the merchandise at the new Menifee store today.
“I love Menifee; I used to live here years ago,” said Luevano, who stood first in line at 7:30 a.m., waiting for the store’s ribbon cutting and for the doors to open. “I love the atmosphere, the people … it’s so clean here. I’m looking forward to moving back.
“Thereis a Burlington in Hemet and I like their merchandise. I wanted to be here early so I have my choice of everything that’s available.”
Following a welcome from Menifee Bill Zimmerman and council member Lesa Sobek, store officials cut the ribbon and handed out $5 coupons to shoppers as they entered the store. There will also be giveaways on Saturday as the store celebrates its first weekend in business.
Burlington is located in the Countryside Marketplace shopping center at 30054 Haun Road.
As part of the Grand Opening, Burlington donated $5,000 to Chester W. Morrison Elementary School through their long-standing partnership with the national non-profit organization AdoptAClassroom.org. Funds will be used to help teachers purchase the necessary materials for their classrooms so that their students can learn and succeed.
Burlington is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
