A Perris woman was arrested and the male driver of a stolen vehicle remains at large after a police chase in which the suspect vehicle crashed into a structure on Highway 74 on Thursday, police said.
The pursuit began when police received the call of a stolen truck in Quail Valley. While officers were searching that area, the vehicle passed one of the patrol vehicles in the opposition direction at a high rate of speed, according to Menifee Police Captain Dave Gutierrez. Officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle at that point.
Following a report that the truck had been seen traveling east on Highway 74, officers headed in that direction just after noon and discovered that the truck had crashed into an unoccupied building on Highway 74 near Sherman Road. Witnesses described a male and female who fled the area on foot.
Officers soon located the female, identified as 24-year-old Ashley Cerda. She was arrested for outstanding warrants. The male driver remains outstanding at this time, Gutierrez said. There were no injuries.
