A group of 20 members of the Heritage High FFA club had a very successful trip to Sacramento last weekend for the annual State Leadership Convention.
Sophie Rodriguez won the California FFA State Swine Placement Proficiency Award for her work as a farmhand at the Heritage farm over the past four years. She also received a $2,000 scholarship and will represent California at the national level.
Landon Hendricks was elected California FFA State Vice President during a ceremony on stage in front of more than 5,500 students at the Sacramento Golden One Center. That marked the first time Heritage FFA has ever had a student elected to a state officer position.
Heritage FFA provides many opportunities for students to learn about agriculture and farm animal management as well as develop leadership skills. Find out more about the program here.
