Paloma Valley High School is sending five wrestlers to next week’s CIF State meet in Bakersfield – four from the girls team and one from the boys team.

Leading the way is Reyna Montenegro, who won the CIF Masters championship at 137 pounds Saturday by defeating Chloe Overgaag of Palm Desert by fall at 3:55. Karissa Turnwall of the Wildcats placed second at 111 pounds, losing only to Anaya Falcon of Walnut in the championship match, 5-1.

Makayla Correa placed third at 121 pounds and Janelle Gomez placed sixth at 143 for the Wildcats, who finished in the top five as a team.

In the boys Masters meet, Brandon Brown of Paloma Valley placed eighth and will also advance to the State meet.
