Press release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE -- The City of Menifee is pleased to announce the appointment of Regina Funderburk as Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Funderburk will plan, direct, and manage the activities and operations of the Finance Department, as well as coordinate with other City departments and outside agencies on financial matters.
Funderburk’s public service career spans more than 30 years and encompasses both working for Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in various leadership roles providing strategic direction over finance, budgets, grants, contracts, purchasing, auditing, capital assets, and accounting information systems. She is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Senior Executive Leadership Credential from the California State Association of Counties Institute of Excellence. She graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialty in Information Management and Accounting, respectively.
“Regina’s robust leadership experience managing fiscal operations for local governments here in the Inland Empire is invaluable,” said Menifee city manager Armando G. Villa. “We look forward to her oversight of the award-winning work that our Finance Department has achieved in their management of the City’s budget and financial practices.”
For the last four years, Funderburk has served as an Information Technology Manager and as the Deputy Director of Administration for the Riverside County Information Technology (RCIT) department. Prior to joining RCIT, she worked for the County of San Bernardino, serving as the Auditing Chief for Human Services and the Deputy Director of Administration for the Preschool Services Department.
Earlier in her career, Funderburk worked for the County of San Bernardino Auditor Controller’s Office in various roles such as Supervising Accountant, Senior Auditor, and Accountant in addition to working for other departments in both technical and clerical roles.
Through her work in San Bernardino County, Funderburk was responsible for auditing the San Bernardino County Treasury Investment Portfolio (in excess of $1 billion) to ensure compliance with Government Code and County policies. As Auditing Chief, she led the receipt of over $1 billion and disbursement of over $500 million in federal, state and county funds annually. Funderburk was also previously appointed as a Trustee of the San Bernardino County Defined Contribution Committee.
“I am grateful for this opportunity to join the City of Menifee team and am committed to ensuring that we continue to provide accurate and transparent accounting of taxpayer dollars,” said Funderburk. “I am ready to get started and look forward to working with my colleagues and the Menifee community.”
Funderburk officially began her new position today.
