Press release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE -- In coordination with the County of Riverside Emergency Management Department, the City of Menifee will be hosting free Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) Basic Training courses during the months of March and April. Residents will have the option of attending one of three sessions:
-- Session One: Friday, March 4 through Sunday, March 6
-- Session Two: Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13
-- Session Three: Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 3
Participants must be 18 years or older and attend all three training days to receive a CERT certificate of completion. All sessions will take place on Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training courses will be hosted at Menifee City Hall (29844 Haun Road).
CERT helps establish a network of dedicated community volunteers that have been FEMA trained to respond in the event of natural disaster or other type emergency. The CERT Basic Training course will cover several key topics, including:
-- Terrorism Awareness
-- Disaster Psychology
-- Light Search & Rescue
-- Emergency Communications
-- Team Organization
-- Disaster Drill & Simulation
-- Disaster Preparedness
-- Medical Operations & Triage
-- Fire Safety & Suppression
-- Hazard Materials Awareness
-- Damage Assessment
-- Utility Control
