Yesenia Carrillo accepts her diploma during fall graduation ceremonies at Mt. San Jacinto College.
Press release from Mt. San Jacinto College:
Yesenia Carrillo was among about 200 Mt. San Jacinto College students who participated in the college district's first Fall Graduation & Transfer Drive-Through Celebration at its San Jacinto Campus on Friday.
Carrillo, who earned an associate degree in business administration, urged her fellow students to keep going and to cross the finish line.
“Never give up your dreams. Those have been my 14-year-old son’s words,” Carrillo, of Hemet, said. “Don’t give up, mom. Your business is calling you! I dedicate this to my family, which has been with me until the end. We did it!”
Carrillo has worked hard over the past couple of years to earn her cap and gown at MSJC and plans to seek her bachelor's degree from UC Riverside beginning in early 2022.
MSJC held its inaugural Fall Graduation & Transfer Drive-Through Celebration to salute not only the nearly 900 summer and fall degree-earners but also the many transfer students who will now head to a four-year university or college to further pursue their higher education.
MSJC’s spring 2022 registration is now open. The semester begins Jan. 18.
