A large crowd gathered at Wheatfield Park this morning -- including many veterans who live in the area -- for the City of Menifee's annual Veterans Day ceremony.
Held near the City's Veterans Memorial, the event included a presentation of colors by members of the Paloma Valley High School NJROTC; national anthem sung by Anahi Rodriguez; remarks by Mayor Bill Zimmerman, Mayor Pro Tem Lesa Sobek and City Council member Dean Deines; recognition of the POW/MIA table; and salute to the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The keynote speaker was Dr. William Gray, Vietnam veteran.
Winners of the City's Veterans Day Art & Essay Contest were honored: Riley Jenkins (high school), Giann Enriquez (middle school), and Alyssa Mercado (fifth grade).
