Menifee Police Department detectives continue to investigate an incident of shots fired at an apartment complex on Encanto Drive early Sunday morning, and not all details have been released.
"We have some really good leads, but to preserve the integrity of the investigation, there is some information we are not releasing at this time," said Lt. Denise Keith. "We are still working to determine who may or may not have been responsible."
Keith said officers recovered eight shell casings at the site, located in the 28300 block of Encanto Drive. They were responding at 4:56 a.m. to reports from callers of shots fired. No one was injured in the incident, and no suspects were arrested, although one person on site was taken into custody because of an outstanding warrant unrelated to the case.
Keith said detectives have interviewed three individuals who are cooperating with the investigation. Search warrants were served at a residence and vehicles that may have been involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
"There is no danger to the community," Keith said. "We believe this was an isolated incident. We will release more details as soon as we are able to."
