The Menifee Planning Commission on Wednesday unanimously approved the plot plan for a Popeye’s chicken drive-thru restaurant to be constructed near the intersection of Newport Road and Winter Hawk Road.
The fast-food restaurant will be a 2,364-square-foot structure build on a one-acre vacant lot just west of Tommy’s Car Wash, according to city documents. It will include 24 parking spaces with two access points – one on Newport Road and a second entrance via the driveway easement between the car wash and Mountain View Tires, to the south of the corner on Winter Hawk Road.
The project passed an environmental review. It will have a monument sign at the corner and a mural facing the parking lot in back with the company’s marketing slogan, “love THAT CHICKEN.”
In answer to a question by commissioner Jeff LaDue, assistant planner Russell Brown said that the owners of the tire store and car wash have agreed to the use of what already can be a busy driveway to access the restaurant off Winter Hawk Road.
I can't believe that another fast food restaurant has been approved. Why can't this City lure some real restaurants?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure another chain restaurant will succeed in Menifee but I would like to see some finer dining options available.
ReplyDeleteI agree, enough with fast food, we just have to keep going to other cities for good cooking.
ReplyDeleteI heard they make more tax money off of fast food. My husband calls Menifee the hamburger capital of the nation
ReplyDeleteSoooo, can we work on some retail and restaurants on Scott Road east of the 215?
