One dead, one injured in collision on Railroad Canyon Road

One person died, another was hospitalized and eastbound Railroad Canyon Road was closed for several hours today because of a two-vehicle collision.

The accident was reported at 9:59 a.m. on Railroad Canyon Road near Church Street in Lake Elsinore, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The accident required extrication of one victim. That person, identified by the corner as 18-year-old Ana Arreola of Quail Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased was driving westbound on Railroad Canyon Road and crossed over the median. The vehicle was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the collision.
