Menifee woman dies in single-vehicle crash on 215 Freeway

A Menifee woman died early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on the southbound 215 Freeway between Nuevo Road and D Street, authorities said.

The Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Hannah Marie Mesa, 29. She was a passenger in the vehicle and was partially ejected when the vehicle struck a concrete bridge abutment.

The incident occurred at about 1:43 a.m. in the southbound freeway lanes south of Nuevo Road, according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol. The driver of a vehicle with two occupants failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle traveled into the dirt median, where it overturned and struck a concrete bridge abutment of the D Street freeway ramp.

The condition of the driver was not reported. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
