News release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE -- Having just celebrated its 13th birthday as an incorporated city, Menifee recently achieved another milestone. The City has reached a population of 102,527 and has become the third-fastest growing city in California, according to the latest U.S. Census figures.
“This is a major accomplishment for our city because with growth comes opportunity,” Mayor Bill Zimmerman said. “Individuals choosing Menifee as a place to call home is testament to the investments and policies we have made and continue to undertake to position Menifee as a safe, thriving, and premier place to live.”
Menifee grew by 25,008 residents – more than 32 percent – between the 2010 and 2020 Census. Additionally, Menifee has been listed by the Department of Finance as the second-fastest growing city in Riverside County (for cities with a population over 30,000) and the third-fastest growing in Riverside County overall, from January 2020 to January 2021.
As a result of the updated Census figures, the City will redraw its voting districts over the next few months to reflect the population changes, with approval of the final district maps by next April.
Redistricting is a collaborative process that focuses on public engagement through community workshops and outreach, starting with a public forum on Nov. 3 at 6:15 p.m. in the City Council chambers. More information on redistricting is available at www.cityofmenifee.us/redistricting.
As Menifee continues to gain the attention of residents and businesses, individuals are flocking here to experience the safety provided by Menifee’s municipal police department, housing options, new amenities, and proximity to all things “Southern California.” Residential development feeds commercial and industrial growth, which supports higher wages and better amenities such as restaurants.
Most of the residential growth is attributed to Riverside County-approved tracts from before City incorporation in 2008. Menifee also tops the charts as the first in Riverside County in single-family housing unit growth.
The City Council is working with staff to continue to respond to the city’s current growth and prepare for future progress.
“In Menifee, we pride ourselves on creating the best quality of life for our residents. As our community experiences continued growth, we are keeping pace by aggressively investing in roads, traffic signals, safety, parks and other amenities for our residents,” city manager Armando G. Villa said. “These efforts are not overlooked, as individuals and businesses are clamoring to be a part of our big-little City.”
Despite the historically low growth rate in the state (-0.46 percent), Menifee and Riverside County continue to flourish and sustain top-ranking positions for population expansion in the region and state, with Menifee expected to grow 10% over the next two years.
