Auction to raise funds for foster children, women's shelter

The Lake Menifee Women's Club will hold a charity event on Friday to raise funds for children in foster care and women in a local domestic violence shelter.

The event, a purse auction, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Marion V. Ashley Community Center, located at 25625 Briggs Road (north of Highway 74 and Heritage High School). This is the 10th year of the event, and at least 100 women are expected to attend.

The ticket price of $40 includes dinner, dessert, wine, drinks, raffle prizes and more. This event usually raises upwards of $10,000 that is donated directly back into the community, according to event organizers.
