Five Marines were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to moderate Wednesday after their USMC truck rolled off the southbound 215 Freeway in Menifee, authorities said.
The accident was reported at 12:44 p.m. when the overturned vehicle was seen downhill from the west shoulder of the freeway just south of McCall Boulevard, according to a CHP news release. The 30,000-pound Oshkosh cargo truck was pulling a trailer carrying an artillery gun.
Three Marine service members were transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center and two others were transported to Inland Valley Medical Center. No other details were released on Wednesday. The CHP is conducting an investigation of the accident.
