The remains of Signalman First Class Eugene Mitchell Skaggs were returned to Southern California Friday and transported via military procession to Miller-Jones Mortuary in Menifee. Skaggs died aboard the USS Oklahoma during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. His remains were recently identified with the use of DNA from family members.

Thanks to Joe Quinn for these photos of the procession arriving at the mortuary, with local residents lining the streets. Our background story from Thursday can be found here.
