Paloma Valley High School's varsity and JV football games for this week were cancelled today after players from both teams were placed in quarantine because of positive COVID-19 tests, Menifee 24/7 has learned.
Candace Reines, deputy superintendent of the Perris Union High School District, confirmed that 115 football players will not only be prohibited from football games or practice, but must stay home from school for 10 days from the date of exposure, unless they are fully vaccinated or test negative after the fifth day.
In addition, about 50 members of the Wildcats wrestling team must quarantine. Although this is not wrestling season, the effects of quarantine obviously are just as severe from a health and safety standpoint.
The varsity football team was scheduled to play a home game on Friday against King High of Riverside. Paloma Valley lost its first two games. Last spring, scheduled to play five games in a season delayed and shortened because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wildcats played only three games because of players who were quarantined.
Reines said there are students in quarantine at all three high schools in Menifee. Specific numbers should be available on Tuesday. No other details were available.

Paloma’s first game they played on August 20 against vista was a home game not an away game.
ReplyDeleteVaccination does not keep you from getting the virus. Yet, if you're vaccinated you can come back in five days without a test? So the vaccinated will be the ones spreading it.
