PERRIS -- With schools resuming in-person education this month, Eastern Municipal Water District wants to remind parents and students that a reusable water bottle is an important part of back-to-school supplies.
EMWD encourages the use of reusable water bottles that can be filled and refilled with EMWD tap water throughout the day, helping students remain hydrated while in class and during after-school activities.
EMWD has Water Bottle Fill Stations at 114 schools throughout its 555-square mile service area, allowing students to easily and safely refill their reusable bottles with clean and reliable tap water.
EMWD’s award-winning Water Bottle Fill Station program has helped save the equivalent of more than 250,000 disposable plastic bottles from entering landfills.
“We hope that every family will put a reusable bottle in their students’ backpack this fall so they can have access to safe drinking water throughout the day,” EMWD Board President Phil Paule said. “EMWD is a proud partner with our local schools as part of our commitment to educate our youngest customers about the value and importance of tap water.”
The Water Bottle Fill Station program is the latest in a long line of programs in which EMWD has partnered with the 11 school districts and private schools in its service area. EMWD is a national leader in water education programs and reaches more than 60,000 students during the academic year through a variety of in-person and virtual programs such as field trips, presentations, contests and more.
