Jogger finds deceased adult male by side of Menifee Road

The Menifee Police Department is investigating the death of a man found by the side of Menifee Road Thursday night, authorities said.

The deceased, a Hispanic male in his 40s, was discovered in the bushes along Menifee Road near Coastline Avenue about 6:30 p.m. by a jogger passing by, according to Captain Dave Gutierrez. The caller told police dispatch it appeared that the man was not alive; police and fire department personnel arrived in minutes and he was pronounced dead.

Members of the Coroner's Office and Menifee PD detectives arrived to begin the investigation, and Menifee Road was closed south of McCall Boulevard. There were no signs of foul play and it appears the male had an unknown medical emergency within the last 24 hours, Gutierrez said. Police received no calls in the area about suspicious activity.

The identity of the deceased has not been released.
