Antelope Road median project creates lane adjustments

Motorists are urged to use caution and pay close attention to signs when driving on Antelope Road between Newport Road and La Piedra Road, where construction has begun to create a raised median.

The $650,000 project has been in the City of Menifee's Capital Improvement Plan since 2017 and work is now beginning with the funding completed. The center divider area is now closed, including the previous left turn lanes both northbound and southbound on Antelope Road at the entrance to the Living Spaces center and Stillwater Drive.

Because of that, a sign warns motorists in both directions that the center lane -- previously the left turn lane onto Stillwater Drive and into the shopping center -- is now closed and the No. 1 lane in both directions now temporarily serves as the left turn lane. Through traffic must stay in the right lane, and any vehicle in the No. 1 lane must turn left. No one should move between the cones into the previous center lane in attempting to turn left.

That has already created a lot of confusion among motorists, so slow speeds and use of caution in the area is advised.
