Celebrating the end of a challenging school year and the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions, the Paloma Valley High School Class of 2021 was honored at graduation ceremonies in the school's stadium today.
Students were socially distanced in the football field seating areas but were able to remove their masks, accept their diploma from district officials and march down the ramp to the cheers of family and friends. The school band played Pomp and Circumstance to welcome student into the stadium, the NJROTC Wildcat Battalion presented the colors, and ASB Vice President Chriselle Alog led the flag salute.
Following remarks by principal Jennifer Thomasian and school board member Davie Nelissen, students heard from Salutatorian Nabeel Vakil and Valedictorian Noah Young. Superintendent Grant Bennett accepted the graduating class on behalf of Perris Union High School District.
Diplomas were awarded by members of the school board, and the Turning of the Tassel was directed by ASB President Raquel Martinez.
