A motorcyclist was in critical condition with severe head injuries suffered in an accident on Newport Road in Menifee this morning.
The biker, a 31-year-old man from San Jacinto, was riding westbound on Newport Road just east of Antelope Road about 9:48 a.m., according to Sgt. Matt Bloch of the Menifee Police Department. The motorcyclist was splitting between the No. 1 and 2 lanes as traffic began to slow. He continued to split lanes, lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected, colliding with a vehicle in another lane.
The patient was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center, where he was in surgery this afternoon, Bloch said. A preliminary investigation indicated excessive speed appeared to be a factor. It also appeared that the man's helmet was not being properly worn.
Westbound Newport Road was closed between Westlink Drive and Antelope Road, stranding some motorists between those streets for nearly four hours.

Is he ok? I’ve been praying for him.
