City of Menifee officials are reminding residents that the Independence Day Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, has been expanded to feature not only the traditional fireworks show, but food and vendor booths at both Wheatfield Park and the Mt. San Jacinto College parking lot.

Both venues open at 5 p.m. Wheatfield Park will also have a Kids Fun Zone and a viewing area for the 9 p.m. fireworks show. Reserved parking spaces to watch the fireworks from the MSJC parking lot are filled, but residents may park in unreserved spaces and walk to Wheatfield Park.

Menifee's festival traditionally is held the Saturday before July 4. This year, the event actually is taking place two Saturdays before the holiday.
