Competing short-handed, the Paloma Valley High School girls wrestling team scored a big victory today over Foothill in the first round of the CIF dual meet wrestling championships.

The Wildcats gave up 36 points in forfeits because of a small roster this year, said coach Luis Robles. Paloma Valley had to win every remaining match to win -- and they did just that, scoring a 43-36 victory.

The victory advances Paloma Valley to second round, when they will compete at Northview on Wednesday.

In a boys wrestling match today, Paloma Valley lost a 43-30 decision to Servite.
