The Heritage High School girls soccer and girls tennis teams posted victories on Wednesday in the first round of the CIF playoffs and will be in action again on Friday.
The Patriots girls soccer team scored a 4-1 victory over Nogales in a home game in Division 6. Rosie Gyllenswan scored two goals for Heritage while Aneliz Melendez and Alexis Tracy each scored a goal. Brianna Godinez, Alyza Jacques, and Makenna Suarez had assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Jadyn Lozano faced only three shots on goal and made the save on two of them.
Heritage (11-3-3) advanced to Friday’s second round and will play at Linfield Christian (11-2-3) at 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, Heritage’s girls tennis team scored a 12-6 win at Coachella Valley on Wednesday. The Patriots (5-6-2) will play at Sierra Canyon in a 3 p.m. Division 4 match on Friday.
In Division 2 girls soccer, Paloma Valley lost at home to Mission Viejo, 2-1.
