The City of Menifee will hold a special workshop May 20 at 6 p.m. at City Hall and virtually, giving residents an opportunity to provide input regarding housing issues of importance to the community.
As required by the State of California, all local governments must prepare a Housing Element document to address local housing needs. An updated Housing Element is required every five years.
The City of Menifee website states, “The Housing Element analyzes existing and future housing needs; addresses constraints to meeting local housing needs; identifies land, financial, and administrative resources for housing; and sets forth goals, policies, and implementation programs to meet a community's varied housing needs.”
The May 20 workshop is part of the City’s initial phase of updating its Housing Element portion of the Menifee General Plan. There will be a total of three public workshops, online surveys and interactive maps to help City staff identify housing issues.
“The City team is working hard to draft an updated Housing Element that will serve residents in the best way possible for years to come,” said Cheryl Kitzerow, community development director. “An adequate supply of quality housing for the entire community is fundamental to the economic and social well-being of Menifee, its residents, and economy. With both remote and in-person options, we hope many residents can be a part of the upcoming workshop.”
The workshop will focus on the following elements:
-- Housing Element Policies
-- Results from the interactive mapping activity (Menifee’s Story Map)
-- 3D Housing Element Visuals
-- Exhibit 6th Cycle Housing Sites
-- General Plan Land Use and Safety Element Updates and Environmental Justice overview
Residents may attend the workshop in person at Menifee City Hall (29844 Haun Road) or virtually via Zoom at https://cityofmenifee-us.zoom.us/j/86947988321, or via phone (1-669-900-6833).
For those who would like to attend in person, there is limited seating to observe social distancing requirements. For reserved seating, email Valerie Mendoza at vmendoza@cityofmenifee.us.
In addition, some seats will be saved to accommodate attendees the night of the workshop. The public may begin lining up at City Hall 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. Stop building houses and build infrastructure. The "housing" problem is that you clowns think we need more and more houses and bring people in. Now the infrastructure is awful. Roads are congested when they shouldn't be. Bring in businesses. If I have to drive to Temecula or outside of Menifee to take care of important tasks, why live here? Might as well move there instead.
ReplyDeleteI think the problem is that while we build more communities, there’s nothing local in those communities to help with the walkability such as local retail and shops. Everything is catered to those passing through and it’s creating problems for locals and shows that the planners are doing an awful job. I understand the housing demand is there but It seems like there is nothing but houses here now and all retail, shopping, and dining is in one location and I’m constantly heading to Temecula or Murrieta because to get to the retail here is more of an inconvenience.
ReplyDeleteProtect Menifee's beautiful hills and landscapes. City of Menifee stop selling the cities land for homes. Pretty soon it will be like L.A. here.
