The CHP Temecula Area office will host a Start Smart class Thursday in Menifee to educate teenage drivers on safe driving techniques.
The program will focus on providing comprehensive traffic safety education for teens and their parents. The curriculum includes information on collision statistics, teen driver and passenger behaviors, graduate driver license laws, cultural changes in today’s society, and the need for stronger parental involvement in a teenager’s driving experience.
According to the CHP, a teenager is killed in a traffic collision every four hours nationwide. That equates to more than 1,870 teenagers killed each year. In addition, 184,000 teens are injured in traffic collisions.
The Start Smart class will take place at 29737 New Hub Drive, Suite 201, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. The class is free and one parent is encouraged to attend.
Seating is limited due to social distancing. Masks are required. For information, contact Officer Mike Lassig at 951-506-2000 or email MLassig@chp.ca.gov.
