Missing Menifee man found safe near Mexican border

An 81-year-old man who was reported missing from his Menifee home on Thursday has been found safe and is in the process of reuniting with his family, authorities said today.

Leo Maki was reported missing several hours after he was last seen driving away from his home in a red Ford Fiesta, according to the Menife Police Department. His vehicle was reported seen a couple hours later in Carlsbad, but no other information on his whereabouts was reported until this morning.

Maki, who suffers from dementia, was found near the Mexican border, according to MPD. No other information was given.
