Menifee's Olivia Ximines competes on American Idol again

A Menifee teenager who made it to the top 20 finalists in the American Idol competition a year ago has been invited back to compete for a finalist position again.

Olivia Ximines, 17, will perform on the ABC-TV show Monday at 8 p.m., said her mother, Dr. Sandra Stewart-Ximines. Olivia will be one of 10 of last year’s top 20 finalists who will perform in that episode, according to the website billboard.com.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the top 20 finalists performed remotely from their homes. This year, Olivia and the other “comeback” hopefuls will compete on stage. Only one of those 10 will make this year’s group of finalists.

Viewer voting on the comeback hopefuls will open at 5 p.m. Monday, which is the time the show will air live in the east coast. Each viewer is able to cast 30 votes, 10 for each of the three voting methods:

-- Sign up on the American Idol website and vote 10 times.

-- Text Olivia’s contestant number revealed on the show 10 times.

Voting will last for one week, April 19-26.
