Menifee Better Together returns with volunteer opportunities

MENIFEE -- The community once again proves that in Menifee, we really are better together.

On Saturday, April 24 from 8 a.m. until noon, the City of Menifee and a variety of dedicated community partners will spend the day improving Menifee in the 8th Annual Menifee Better Together and Community Cleanup. While senior home renovation projects have been scaled back this year due to COVID-19, the City and its partners are proud to host expanded cleanup efforts and bulky item drop-off for Menifee residents as part of the 2021 event.

This year, 150 volunteers will join community groups, local businesses—including title sponsor Brookfield Residential—and City staff to help throughout the Menifee community. Some volunteers will assist Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley with the repair of selected senior homes. Volunteers will also help with a new right-of-way cleanup effort along Newport Road, as well as the beautification of Menifee by assisting with bulky item waste drop-off at two Menifee locations.

Mayor Pro Tempore Lesa Sobek has been a part of Menifee Better Together since its creation and is proud of the way the event has grown each year.

“I’m so pleased that Menifee Better Together is back for 2021. Since Menifee Better Together began, volunteers have completed hundreds of senior home projects, participated in parks and roadside landscape cleanup projects, flower planting, and assisting residents with a free waste drop-off day. We couldn’t accomplish so much and make such a difference in our city if it wasn’t for all the volunteers. We are truly better together,” said the mayor pro tempore.

Want to join in the effort to better Menifee? Here are ways the community can volunteer:

-- Senior home improvements: Sign up through Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley.

-- Right-of-way litter removal: Sign up to pick up litter along one of five Newport Road intersections.

-- Quail Valley bulky item drop-off: Sign up to help at the Kabian Park bulky item drop-off location.

-- Menifee beautification: Residents can drop off their bulky item waste between 8 a.m. and noon at one of two Menifee locations (Kabian Park in Quail Valley— 28001 Goetz Road, Menifee, CA 92586— or Heritage High School in Romoland—26001 Briggs Road, Menifee, CA 92585). Please visit this webpage for list of items that cannot be accepted at these sites, such as tires.

The Menifee Better Together event would not be possible without the effort and support of many community partners, including Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley, Menifee Interfaith and Community Service Council, Waste Management, Perris Union High School District, Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District, Brookfield Residential (this year’s title sponsor), Rotary Club of Menifee, Raising Canes, Eastern Municipal Water District, Auto Air Pro, Jim Shultz Tree Service, and Barons Market.
