Distracted driving operation results in 74 citations

News release from Menifee Police Department:

On April 28, 2021, Menifee Police Officers conducted a Distracted Driver Operation in an effort to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.

Anything that takes your attention away from driving can be a distraction. Sending a text message, talking on a cell phone without Bluetooth, manipulating a navigation system, and eating while driving are a few examples of distracted driving. Any of these distractions can endanger you, your passengers, and others on the road.

During our operation, a total of 85 vehicles were stopped and 74 citations were issued for violations ranging from cell phone handheld use, texting while driving, red light violations, and unsafe speed. We know we made a significant impact towards reducing injury and fatal traffic collisions in our City.
