City of Menifee officials gathered at Nova Park in northwest Menifee Monday for a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of a new play structure and other improvements at the park.
The nearly 5-acre park, located just south of McLaughlin Road and west of Evans Road in the Sun City community, is not one of the most well-known parks in the city. These improvements make it a more attractive amenity for local residents and will enhance its appeal as the City’s latest park renovation project.
Workers from the parks division of the City’s Community Services Department constructed the new play structure, which includes safe climbing elements, slides, a rubber ground surface and large shade structure. According to Bryce Howell, park maintenance manager, the City saved an estimated $80,000 by purchasing and building the structure rather than contracting out for the service.
The improvements include a looping walking trail, illuminated at night by bollard lighting fixtures. The large grass area is a multipurpose area often used as a soccer field, with soccer goals on site.
The new play structure is a dramatic improvement over the old one, seen above.
