A Canyon Lake man died early this morning from injuries received in a single-vehicle accident in that city Friday night, authorities said.
The County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Leroy Jensen, age 75. According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, deputies responded to the report of a traffic collision on Canyon Lake Drive and Sloop Drive in Canyon Lake about 6:58 p.m. on Friday. They discovered that a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with several parked vehicles and residences.
Cal Fire rescue workers extricated the trapped subject, who was transported to Inland Valley Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries about 2 a.m. today.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver was heading east on Canyon Lake Drive at a high rate of speed. The driver suffered an apparent medical emergency and his vehicle left the roadway at that point. The incident remains under investigation.
