News release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE -- The City of Menifee is excited to partner with Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) and the PetCo Foundation to host a Spay Day voucher pop-up event. The pop-up event will be Friday, Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Spirit Park in Menifee.
In fall of 2020, the City of Menifee joined other Southwest Riverside County cities who contract with Animal Friends of the Valleys for animal services. AFV is dedicated to promoting humane care of animals through education and a humane, proactive animal services program. Over the years, they have implemented many programs to help educate the public and helped a multitude of residents spay and neuter their pets for low cost.
Council member Dean Deines, who represents the City of Menifee on the Southwest Communities Financing Authority Board of Directors (the regional joint powers authority), encouraged Menifee residents to take advantage of this opportunity.
“The City’s recent partnership with Animal Friends of the Valleys makes events like this possible and the City of Menifee is proud to offer this program to our residents," said Deines. "Spaying and neutering pets is the most effective way to prevent overpopulation in our local animal shelter.”
Pet owners can receive up to two vouchers for spay and neuter services, unlimited vouchers for $10 microchipping and registration, and information about local animal services. This event is for voucher pick-up only; please do not bring your pet to this event. To redeem a voucher, pet owners must live in Menifee and must provide proof of residency.
District 2 council member Matt Liesemeyer expressed pride in the City’s partnership to host this event for Menifee residents.
“Offering these vouchers helps our residents ensure their pets are spayed and neutered and allows them to access low-cost microchipping services," Liesemeyer said. "I am proud of Menifee’s partnership with Animal Friends of the Valleys, which saves our residents money and keeps their pets safe.”
Spirit Park is located at 25507 Normandy Road. The vouchers will be available while supplies last. The City of Menifee hopes to see residents at the event taking advantage of the partnership with Animal Friends of the Valley and the Petco Foundation.
