A suspect faces three felony charges after being taken into custody by Menifee Police officers following a traffic stop on Highway 74 early Tuesday morning, Menifee PD reported.
The traffic stop for a vehicle code violation was conducted at 12:10 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 74 and Briggs Road, according to the news report. The driver was identified as Jonhattan Aviles-Rocha, ages 26. He was found to be a felony on probation with a warrant for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm. Aviles-Rocha was booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. In addition to the felony charges, he faces a misdemeanor charge of giving false identification to a police officer. He has a Thursday court date in Murrieta.
