A man faces four felony counts after being apprehended by Menifee Police officers with stolen mail and stolen prescription medication on Wednesday, authorities said.
Ricardo Ferguson, 40, was contacted near the 26700 block of Murrieta Road by officers responding to a suspicious person call for service about 4:30 p.m., according to a Menifee PD news report. The suspect was found to be on parole for burglary and other charges.
A search determined that Ferguson had prescription medication that didn’t belong to him, as well as W-2 tax forms not in his name. Owners of the W-2s were contacted and reported they had recently been victims of mail theft.
Ferguson was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center. He faces charges of stolen property, identity theft, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and a parole violation.
Since he has stolen mail shouldn't he be charged with a federal crime. https://www.neilmorrisonlaw.com/blog/2020/03/is-mail-theft-a-federal-crime/#:~:text=The%20United%20States%20Postal%20Service,time%20in%20a%20federal%20prison.
